Cora Okano passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 24, 2024. She was 93 years old She was born Sechiyo Nakamura in Honolulu on May 19, 1930, to Shin and Toku Nakamura. Cora was raised in Waipahu and graduated from Waipahu High School. Cora used her love of people to excel in jobs from the candy counter at Kress Store to appliance sales at Mid-Town Radio Disco Mart. She loved to talk story. Cora and Joichi Okano were married on November 19, 1955, in Pearl City. Together, they raised two daughters. Cora is survived by her husband, Joichi Okano, daughters Corinne Blakley (William) and April Okano; grandchildren Tyler Blakley and Lora Blakley; siblings Judy Yoshimoto, Jinx Shimao (Andrew), Maxine Tadena (Herman), Tami Nakamura (Janice), Joan Iwamoto (Robert) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Shin and Toku Nakamura; siblings Yoshio Nakamura, Tsutomu Nakamura (Sue), Kiyoshi Nakamura (Lety), Sharon Kaneyuki (Melvin), and son-in-law Adthvit Chorphaka. Although Cora loved growing plants and flowers, her family requested no flowers. The family also request no Koden. Memorial donations may made to the Hawaii Food Bank.
